§01 · Overview

About Tebra.

Tebra, formed by the merger of Kareo and PatientPop, offers EHR, patient engagement, and revenue cycle tools in a single platform. It targets independent outpatient practices, including behavioral health and pediatric therapy clinics.

§02 · Approach

How Tebra works.

Tebra is an all-in-one provider platform that serves as the backbone of practice success for independent healthcare organizations. Formed in November 2021 through the merger of Kareo, a leading EHR and medical billing software provider, and PatientPop, a practice growth and patient engagement platform, Tebra combines complementary technologies into a unified system.

The platform is purpose-built for small to medium-sized independent practices, typically serving those with up to 10 providers. Tebra's integrated solution addresses the full patient journey, combining electronic health records, patient engagement tools, and revenue cycle management in a single operating system. This integrated approach eliminates the complexity and inefficiency of managing multiple disconnected systems.

As of 2025, Tebra serves over 140,000 healthcare providers across the United States, covering more than 120 million patients. The platform supports a diverse range of independent practices, including primary care, behavioral health, pediatric therapy, and other outpatient specialties. The company is headquartered in Corona del Mar, California, with operations spanning multiple California locations.

Tebra's mission centers on modernizing healthcare delivery for independent practitioners by providing the technological infrastructure needed to compete effectively while maintaining the autonomy and patient relationships that define independent practice. The platform's comprehensive feature set addresses both clinical and business aspects of running a modern healthcare practice.

Absolutely the worst customer service experience I've had with any EHR. I contacted Tebra to give my collaborating physician the ability to co-sign my notes only. I specifically asked if there would be any charge and was assured by the representative that it was free. Instead, I was billed over $1,500 after they apparently granted full clinical and billing access—not only to my current collaborator, but also to a previous collaborating physician who has not been active on my account for over two years. I had been unable to find any way to remove that inactive collaborator from my profile. What followed has been weeks of unnecessary back-and-forth. Despite receiving multiple emails stating my refund had been approved and processed, my account has repeatedly been blocked over payment issues, preventing me from accessing my EHR and seeing patients. I even received confirmation that a credit had been issued, yet my account remains inaccessible. The most frustrating part is that this entire situation was completely avoidable had the initial representative simply processed my request correctly. It's astonishing that the account services team cannot recognize that a small private practice paying around $300 per month would never intentionally authorize a sudden increase to a $1,500 monthly bill. An EHR should support patient care, not interfere with it. Blocking providers from accessing patient records because of an error created by your own staff is unacceptable. Tebra needs to seriously improve its training, billing practices, and customer support. I have had several promises that a supervisor will call or contact me, but it never happened. Just unbelievable.

Under no circumstances would I recommend this platform for medical or therapy practices. The sales team says yes to everything you ask, then once the contract is signed there are so many holes in the platform. The implementation support did not exist and they would not help us with any questions or setup. Do not waste your time and energy on this software.

NP Erin has been so kind working with my wife trying to get her hormones under control. I’m so grateful for her being available by text all throughout the day while adjusting my wife dosage. It’s been a little bit of a roller coaster, but we’re getting it under control. I’m so grateful to have an expert along the way this would’ve been way too much to deal with on our own or without a provider who really cared about our well-being thank you Erin.

I would like to commend Hector for providing excellent customer service. He was very helpful, resolved my concern efficiently, and was pleasant to speak with throughout the call. You need more representatives like him—professional, kind, and able to resolve issues without causing any hassle to the caller. If I could give him a score of 100, I definitely would. Thank you for the great service.

I had an excellent experience with this representative. They were professional, efficient, and quickly identified the issue without wasting time—which is incredibly important as a provider with a busy schedule. What stood out most was their deep knowledge of Tebra and ability to resolve the problem promptly. In my experience, calls to Tebra often result in being transferred multiple times or speaking with representatives who are not fully familiar with the system, leading to delays and unresolved issues. This was the first time I’ve completed a call without feeling frustrated. Typically, I’m told an issue is “ongoing,” or that someone will follow up, but I rarely receive resolution or communication. This time was different—the issue was actually resolved. This representative truly went above and beyond. They were knowledgeable, confident, and clearly understood how Tebra functions. I strongly believe more representatives should be trained to this standard.
