§ Clinics FAQ

The questions families ask before contacting a clinic.

Answered against the same disclosed methodology that powers every ranking on this page — and the rest of the ABA Rank directory.

§FAQ.01

How does ABA Rank rank ABA therapy clinics?

Every clinic is scored on the same disclosed 100-point Index used across the entire directory: 50 points from profile completeness (the operating-clinic disclosures families care about — accepted insurance, age range, modality, waitlist), 20 points from verification (BACB credential check on the clinical lead and a state business-registration check), 5 points from listing tier, and 25 points from qualified public reviews. Methodology is fully published at /how-we-rank. There is no pay-for-rank inside the ranked list.

§FAQ.02

Are ABA Rank clinic listings sponsored?

No, the ranked list is editorial. Clinics can opt into a Verified ($400/yr) or Sponsor ($1,200/yr) tier — both are visibly labeled and disclosed on /how-we-rank — but neither overrides the public Index. A sponsor cap limits how many sponsored clinics can sit near the top of any city or specialty page, so a single big spender cannot crowd out a market.

§FAQ.03

How do I find an ABA clinic that accepts my insurance?

Use the clinic finder at /find-aba — pick your city or state, then filter by your specific plan (Aetna, Anthem / Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Kaiser, Tricare, your state Medicaid). Every ABA Rank clinic profile lists the insurance plans the clinic has disclosed, so the filtered results are clinics that have stated they are in-network for that plan. Always confirm with the clinic before scheduling — networks change and plan tiers vary.

§FAQ.04

What is the difference between in-clinic, in-home, and telehealth ABA?

In-clinic ABA is delivered at the provider site; in-home ABA brings a BCBA-supervised RBT into the family home; telehealth ABA is delivered via secure video, typically for parent training or for older clients with skill targets that travel well to video. Many clinics offer multiple modalities — every ABA Rank clinic profile lists the modalities the clinic has disclosed so families can shortlist by service setting.

§FAQ.05

What does Verified mean on a clinic profile?

A Verified clinic has claimed its profile from a work email at the clinic domain, completed a BACB credential check on the clinical lead, and corroborated its listed service modalities and age ranges against its public website. Verified clinics carry a seal and earn a small placement boost in the ranked list; unverified clinics remain in the index but are clearly marked.

§FAQ.06

How can a clinic get listed on ABA Rank?

Eligible clinics can claim a free listing at /claim/new — claiming unlocks the editable disclosure fields that drive the Index score, including accepted insurance, age range, modality, BCBA roster, and waitlist status. New clinics that are not yet listed can be submitted at /suggest-vendor; submissions are reviewed weekly and approved listings typically appear within seven to ten days.

§FAQ.07

How often are clinic rankings refreshed?

Rankings recompute nightly. New disclosed inputs — profile edits, freshly verified credentials, new qualified public reviews — propagate into the next refresh, so a clinic that improves its disclosures can move up between visits. Listing pages themselves are server-rendered with a 6-hour ISR window so search engines and AI crawlers see fresh ordering on every visit.
