My recruiter, Wayne O. is amazing. He goes above and beyond to make sure things go as smooth as possible. He has advocated for me many times…if it wasn’t for him, I probably wouldn’t still be with AMN. I would also have to say, onboarding has gone pretty smoothly as well. What would dissuade me from working with them in the future is the things they don’t pay for that I’ve never had an issue with before with other agencies. I was blown away to find out that they DO NOT pay stipends on any days that you have requested PTO for, no matter how many hours you work that week! For example, if you have 3 days of RTO during a week, but you complete your full week of hours in the other four days, they will not pay you stipends for those days! Additionally, they do not pay stipend for the first day of your contract, even if you’re working all your hours that week, so your first week you will be ~$200 short, depending on you stipend rate.
My recruiter Kelly Day was an incredible resource in helping me find my very first CF position. She offered exemplary support in answering many of the questions I needed to know before starting my career. She was professional and extremely transparent in her communication and took into account with great consideration the things that I was looking for in my first position. She was also a valuable asset in making sure that I was getting fair pay, benefits, and the support I needed in starting my career. She was able to build rapport and connection with me in such a genuine and sincere way. I had worked with other recruiters from different companies, but I knew Kelly was trustworthy and invested in helping me make the best choose that aligned with my goals as a professional. She is an exceptional and model recruiter with outstanding talents and skills in helping those she works with. Anyone looking to do any SLP work: traveling, healthcare, schools, etc. should definitely seek her out. I would absolutely recommend her to fellow SLP clinical fellows starting out, or to other professionals in general. I know in the future if I ever decide to look into another position, I will come back to work with her again.
This has been the most disastrous experience I have encountered in 36+ years. The recruiter , Jeff Barton, has consistently lied, refused to call back or answer emails. The confirmation has never been correct, the rates I was told are “different” than what they see. The travel was mismanaged, the hotel reservation was bungled, the rental car not reserved. Now I have been waiting 6 weeks to get paid, they don’t call back, Jeff says he will check ( but doesn’t) Laneikka in payroll refuses to call and explain processes. Bryson Brown was at least courteous and tried to facilitate a response. Jasmine keeps saying I’m not using their system correctly, but I will learn, while admitting that they have had recurring issues with many physicians and ancillary staffs. Stay away if you have other options, your life will be much less stressful. No reason for a physician to wait 6 weeks for an “urgent” assignment pay check
AMN is truly a wonderful place to work. The culture, the people, and our mission add so much value to my life—far beyond the day‑to‑day. AMN genuinely cares for its employees, and this has been the most fulfilling industry and company I’ve ever been part of. Every workplace has its pros and cons, but one thing has always remained true here: I feel valued, supported, and like I play a meaningful role alongside my colleagues. I’ve built lifelong friendships, and the flexibility of hybrid/remote roles has been incredible. I definitely regret leaving the first time, but I’m so grateful my inner north star led me back to the best workplace
I worked a locum assignment through AMN Healthcare/Staff Care and was disappointed by the lack of support. Communication dropped off as soon as I signed the contract—responses often took days to a week, even for issues affecting my schedule and workflow. When the assignment wasn’t as described, my recruiter consistently sided with the client instead of advocating for me, which put my professional reputation at risk. After speaking with other locum providers, it seems this is a common pattern: slow communication, vague job details, last-minute changes, and minimal support once the assignment starts. Based on my experience, AMN appears to prioritize the client relationship over provider safety and transparency. Clinicians should be cautious and ask detailed questions before committing.
