How Waisman Center works.
The Waisman Center is a nonprofit organization and research facility located at the University of Wisconsin-Madison that serves as an international resource for people with developmental disabilities and their families. Established in 1973, the Center combines clinical services with biomedical, behavioral, and social science research focused on human development and neurodegenerative disease.
The organization's Autism Treatment Programs (ATP), offered in partnership with UW Health, provide evidence-based behavioral treatment for individuals with autism. The ATP team includes licensed psychologists, licensed behavior analysts, licensed marriage and family therapists, and licensed clinical social workers. Treatment is delivered by bachelor's level specialists and is available through in-person sessions at the Waisman Center facility as well as via telehealth options, Monday through Friday.
Beyond autism-specific treatment, the Waisman Center offers a comprehensive range of services including clinical diagnosis, genetic counseling, treatment and intervention programs, and early childhood education services. The organization employs over 600 staff members and maintains an annual operating budget exceeding $35 million, supporting both direct client care and ongoing research initiatives.
Located at 1500 Highland Avenue on the west end of the UW-Madison campus, the Center serves children and adults with developmental disabilities and their families throughout Wisconsin and beyond, combining clinical excellence with research-driven approaches to developmental disability care.

We love Dr. Stanley. From the calm and kind receptionists today, to Nurse Mary taking my son's vitals with humor and care, to Dr. Stanley's absolute attention and respect for her patient/my son and me......I am in awe on every visit by the thoroughness and passion of the UW Health Waisman staff. My questions were answered, and we have a plan moving forward. Am grateful for our relationships there.

Love my daughter’s OT/Speech therapists! They’re always so kind and understanding. I love how they’re helping my daughter grow and Learn with her new communication device. I love to see the excitement on my daughter’s face, when device speaks the words for her. “It’s like she saying yes! Finally!! . Forever grateful! I’d highly recommend, they have a great team of caring individuals. Shout out to Bethany and Theresa! Much love and appreciation.

Everyone is super friendly!! The doctor takes time to explain and answer any and all questions I have. I’ve never felt more relaxed when is comes to healthcare for my children.

My son was on the waiting list for the AAC (CASC) program. He came up on waiting listing quicker then expected. The speech therapist was so good with my son. He enjoyed going every time. We had a schedule that even when we couldn’t make it we kept going on same days/time until we finished and got his device. He was even diagnosed with Autism there, great specialist and I’d refer anyone there. I’m so blessed and thankful for everyone that has worked with both of my boys. We’ll miss all of them.

Very long wait, over a year, but very professional, kind and thorough clinic. Speech therapist really listened to my daughter’s needs and was really kind and patient. Appointment didn’t feel rushed and feel we have a good understanding of next steps.
