Ukeru Systems

Ukeru Systems is a division of Grafton Integrated Health Network that specializes in trauma-informed crisis intervention and restraint reduction training. Rather than providing direct therapy services, Ukeru operates as a national training and consulting firm that equips schools, psychiatric hospitals, residential programs, and other organizations with evidence-based methods to safely manage behavioral crises without relying on restraints or seclusion.

The Ukeru model is grounded in two distinct, evidence-based frameworks: applied behavior analysis (ABA) and trauma-informed care. The program emphasizes a philosophy of comfort over control, combining physical redirection techniques with de-escalation strategies and conflict resolution training. Ukeru provides comprehensive organizational support including staff training, physical technique instruction, organizational assessments, change management, and capacity building.

Since its founding in 2015, Ukeru has expanded to serve more than 1,000 schools and organizations across all 50 states, Canada, and Brazil. The training is currently implemented in 22 states and has been adopted by private and public schools, psychiatric hospitals, forensic units, private day and residential programs, and other behavioral health organizations.

Ukeru's approach represents an alternative to traditional restraint-based crisis management by combining trauma-informed principles with behavioral science. The organization serves as a resource for institutions seeking to reduce reliance on physical restraints while maintaining safe, therapeutic environments for individuals experiencing behavioral challenges.
