Rebecca School

Rebecca School is an independent private day school that provides DIR/Floortime®-based education and therapy for children and young adults ages 3–21 with autism spectrum disorder and other neurodevelopmental differences. Founded in 2006, the school has expanded to operate two campuses: one in Manhattan at 35 E 21st St, New York, NY 10010, and a second location in Mount Vernon, New York that opened in September 2024.

The school's educational model is fully integrated with the DIR/Floortime® approach, a relationship-based developmental method developed by Dr. Stanley Greenspan, who served as a consultant to the school beginning in 2005. This methodology focuses on building meaningful interactions and relationships to support emotional and intellectual development, distinct from discrete-trial or behavioral approaches.

Rebecca School employs a multidisciplinary clinical team including Board-Certified Occupational Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, Physical Therapists, Psychologists, Social Workers, Music Therapists, Art Therapists, and Dance Movement Therapists, along with nursing and adaptive physical education staff. The integrated approach supports students in developing social communication, emotional connection, and foundational learning skills.

The organization currently serves students across both campuses and is part of New Story's network of schools. Rebecca School remains one of the few schools in the New York metropolitan area offering comprehensive DIR/Floortime® programming as the primary educational and therapeutic framework.
