Hi, I’m Lawrence I cerebral palsy. I lived here for 4 years. The staff are great, they’re nice to me. They put their hands on me. But they never take me to my appointments on time, they always rescheduling them the next day and I just found out that some of the staff are stealing the client’s medications and selling them. I haven’t had a support coordinator for a year and last year when I was broke my leg they ddnt check me. Also since I was here I had to get tested for Covid about 8X because one of the clients had Covid, one of the clients likes to steal my food, just month tha same client put his hands on me. So I called the police, I tried to give them the location where I was at but he was holding my wrist. I spit on him more than once and he didn’t let go & when the staff came back to the van. I told her I called the police and she asked why did I do that. She told me to turn my location off and so I told my aunt & she told my mom. And also everytime I asked the house manager can he help me to get a shower. He doesn’t do it. So the staff does the next day, the weekend staff is tired of giving me showers when I ask the house manager during the week. And I got a new hospital bed last year and it has a hole in the bottom bed frame. They took my hospital bed that I came with from my mom’s & I don’t know where is at, the house manager doesn’t clean my room or do my laundry. All he does is sits there on his computer.
My brother, Terry, just passed away after living in an Augusta UCP home (Country Place) for the past 14 years. I cannot say enough abt how wonderful the staff were! Terry blossomed from being an angry, virtually silent, introvert into someone who was outgoing, would talk with almost anyone, & LOVED flirting with the girls! I heard him laugh more while living with them than I had in the previous 30 yrs. His last 2 yrs were difficult, with illness after illness. But the UCP staff always made sure he was cared for & knew he was loved. He was able to peacefully leave us to join our parents & our brother in Heaven. His life was enriched by UCP... & my life was blessed.
UCP of Georgia's mission and staff is doing truly outstanding work and I have seen and heard only great things from them! Please keep up the amazing work!!
