How Chaddock works.
Chaddock is a nonprofit behavioral health and residential treatment organization headquartered in Quincy, Illinois, dedicated to serving children and youth from birth to age 21 who have experienced abuse, neglect, and significant trauma. Founded in 1853 as a ministry of the United Methodist Church, Chaddock has evolved into a leader in trauma-informed care and attachment-focused treatment.
The organization operates the Chaddock Family of Organizations, a network of five separate corporations established in 2019 to provide specialized services across multiple care modalities. These include community-based prevention and education programs, a special education school, in-home intensive therapeutic services, and residential treatment facilities. Chaddock's Developmental Trauma & Attachment Program specifically addresses the psychological, emotional, and spiritual effects of severe trauma in children and youth struggling with attachment-related difficulties.
With approximately 200 trained professionals on staff, Chaddock serves children and families across Illinois with evidence-based therapeutic interventions and support services. The organization combines clinical expertise in trauma treatment, behavioral health, and educational services to provide comprehensive care pathways for vulnerable children and their families.

food sucked, room service was slow, not a good hotel

Not an accepting place for the LGBTQ+ community, I lived here for a year 2020-2021 and was not accepted. My therapist (Amanda becks) refused to use my preferred name and pronouns. Nobody did anything about it, this isn’t a safe space for anyone who is transgender. They also told Wesley cottage that nobody was aloud to use my pronouns or name. I was also unable to switch therapists.My therapist said that me wanting them to use my preferred name and pronouns was a distraction from my other issues. A therapist is supposed to be there to support you and be a place to talk about what’s going on, not to be refusing to respect someone by what they go by, and have been going by before chaddock. Chaddock needs to hire people who are educated and don’t discriminate people in the LGBTQ community. Chaddock made me feel even more depressed than I was to begin with. I hope nobody else has to go through what I went through because it was a horrible experience.

My daughter came here after years of issues. Could not get her to stop hurting herself. We had one other residential school that she was in. This place is God sent. I see a major difference in her. I would recommend this school to any parent struggling with a child/teen. They work with you as well, weekly meetings. So you become part of the solution. For the first time in years I am hopeful for her to grow up and have a Normal life.

My child attends Chaddock school and loves it. They are great for children with needs that can't be handled in a large group setting. They are very informative to the parents in and out of the school. They involve the children in real life projects and have fun doing it. A big thank you to Chaddock staff.

Chaddock was my home for two years! The staff and the programs here are amazing. I was a client here from 14 to 16 and without then I wouldn’t be who I am today! I am now 30 years old and am a success story from this school! This school and therapeutic programs are great at giving kids a second chance in life! I owe a lot of who I am today from this program the staff and my parents. Best believe I wasn’t an easy child to work with but they never gave up on me! For this I am thankful for! Thank you and continue doing your amazing work!
