Damar Services provides Applied Behavior Analysis therapy services for children and adults with autism spectrum disorder. Based in Indianapolis, IN, the organization employs Board Certified Behavior Analysts and Registered Behavior Technicians to deliver center-based, home-based, and school-based ABA therapy.
Damar Services is Indiana's largest and only provider of the full continuum of care for individuals with developmental, intellectual, and behavioral disabilities. Founded in 1967 by Theodore and Beverly Farkas—parents seeking better services for their own children—the organization was named by combining the names of their two children, David and Martha.
The nonprofit delivers accredited Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy across multiple locations on Indianapolis' southwest side, in the Geist area, and in Avon. Services include initial autism diagnosis, intensive ABA assessments, individualized treatment programs, and parent training via telehealth. With over 500 employees, Damar operates continuously—seven days a week, 365 days a year—to serve approximately 1,500 people of all ages.
Damar operates two specialized schools: the Damar Public Charter Academy and the Damar Private Academy, both providing education tailored to students with autism, intellectual disabilities, and developmental challenges. The organization is led by President and CEO Dr. Jim Dalton (Psy.D., HSPP, CSAYC) and maintains accreditation standards across all service modalities. As a registered nonprofit (EIN: 35-1168048), Damar has maintained its founding commitment to supporting families and caregivers navigating developmental and behavioral challenges.

My son has profound autism and is prone to self harm and hitting others. With my wife having MS, and me working full time, as he has gotten older my wife's safety became a constant fear. We lived in a state of survival for a very long time before we broke down and decided what would be best for all of us would be to enter Eli into a residential program. It was the hardest decision we ever had to make, but it was the best decision we ever made for all of us. Eli is thriving, and we have been able to exit the fear state and live. The people working with Eli are amazing.
I highly recommend Damar for their outstanding services in supporting individuals with behavioral and developmental disabilities. They offer personalized programs that promote growth and independence, making a meaningful difference in the lives of their clients, and a valuable resource to the community.
Damar was a great help to my son in his 2 years there. They were able to help him get his behaviors and medications under control so that he was able to come back home. The staff at Damar was amazing and loved my child like their own. I can never repay them but hope they now how much I appreciate them all.
DO NOT BRING YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS HERE!!!!!!!! This facility is supposed to be here to help but they do the exact opposite. Yesterday me and my family were spending time in our front yard and we saw a young boy walking down the street with NO SHOES and was holding a pillow. This boy said he was 16 years old and once he told us he was from Damar we realized he had walked TEN MILES!!! We then called Damar and they did not know this child was missing. They said they would send a staff and file a report with the police. A significant amount of time passed and nobody had showed, we called again and they did not answer. We called from a different phone number and they answered and claimed that they had someone coming. We spoke to one of the ladies that is supposed to be taking care of these children over the phone and she said “Well i don’t want to talk to him anyways.” With such attitude and anger in her voice. She was speaking about this 16 year old boy. Damar didn’t show up until an hour and 45 minutes later and couldn’t even tell the police his full name. This child informed us and the police that he gets hit by the other children and staff does not treat him kindly. As someone who has worked in a facility similar to this one i am extremely disappointed. They do not care about the safety and comfort of these children. They are not the great helping organization they claim to be. Please if you have any love in your heart for you family members like i hope you do, do not send them here. There have been countless children that have ran away from this facility and Damar is not aware until someone makes a phone call. Damar you need to do better. This is completely unethical, unacceptable, disappointing, heart breaking. All this child wanted was a family and for someone to care about him and Damar does a horrible job at taking care of the people that live there. I pray they fix their problems for the safety of these children.
My son attends full time ABA therapy at Damar Ameriplex and he loves being there and is thriving. His self injurious behaviors have ceased, he is learning safety commands to go shopping or on outings with me successfully. Parent training has been so helpful. He has a whole team of support.
