I wanted to take a moment to thank Dr Mary Ghattas for the excellent care she provided to my 4 years old son , yesterday during his dental surgery.two molars removed , 2 silver crowns , deep cleaning, filling all in 1h & 10 min . Having a child undergo a procedure can be stressful for any parent, and I truly appreciated the professionalism, kindness, and the time dr took to make us feel comfortable and informed throughout the process. Thank s to the staff there too .

As a parent, this was one of the most upsetting medical experiences I have ever had. My daughter was brought to Franciscan Children’s Hospital for dental work under anesthesia due to decay in her molars. During our consultation, we discussed placing stainless steel crowns on the affected molars and the possibility that two of her molars might need to be extracted if they could not be saved. Those were the only teeth we discussed. Her front teeth were never mentioned. They make you sign forms agreeing that they can decide in the OR which treatment is right “after X-rays and exam are done”. When my daughter came out of surgery, I was informed that four of her front teeth had been pulled. This possibility was never brought up before the procedure, and I was completely blindsided because there was no decay or issues with any of her front teeth. Being told after the fact that the teeth were “very loose” did not change the fact that no one prepared me for the possibility that four additional teeth could be removed. I was in complete SHOCK. I brush her teeth for her daily and never even noticed any wiggling. This decision seemed completely unnecessary even IF she had wiggly teeth, they would have come out on their own time. It makes me feel as though some type of accident occurred to those teeth and this is how it was covered. I’m very uneasy about the entire thing now. I understand that parents sign consent forms allowing doctors to make decisions during treatment, but I believe there should be better communication when such a significant change from the agreed treatment plan is possible. Going in expecting potential work on molars and waking up to find your child has lost four front teeth are two very different situations. My daughter is only five years old and is now missing six teeth. She has sensory issues and will have to adjust how she bites and chews, and it has been difficult watching her navigate such a major change that we were NEVER expecting. I am sharing this because I want other parents who are in the same situation to be aware.

I had a really great experience bringing my daughter in for her dental procedure today 4/28. The nurses were incredibly kind, gentle, and attentive from start to finish. Everything went smoothly, and they made sure she was comfortable the entire time, even giving her a heated blanket after the procedure, which was such a thoughtful touch. A special shoutout to Nurse Rachel Rose, she was amazing. Super kind, cool, and really made both of us feel at ease. She truly stood out. The team was also very thorough when explaining aftercare and checking on how my daughter was feeling. I really appreciated how patient and informative they were it made the whole experience much less stressful. There’s also a Dunkin’ Donuts nearby, which was convenient while waiting. Overall, I felt very comfortable and confident in their care, and I would definitely recommend this place to any parent looking for a dental provider for their child.

Taking my daughter in for her procedure was one of the hardest things I’ve had to do as a parent, but the entire team made the experience so much better. The young lady at the front desk was welcoming and kind from the very start. The nurses who prepared us for the OR were not only friendly, but also so child-oriented, making sure my daughter felt comfortable. The staff were knowledgeable and very comforting, and I really appreciated that they checked in with me throughout the process to let me know how she was doing and what would happen next. It was an emotional experience for me, but Christina, one of the amazing nurses, went out of her way to support me through it. Because of their care, I felt my daughter was in good hands the whole time. I’m so grateful for the compassion and professionalism of everyone we encountered

Our kid had his dental procedures done under general anesthesia at Franciscan recently. Olivia the nurse was very kind, giving him toys, showing him photos of the operating room. She explained everything to us and walked us to wherever we needed to go, including to the parking lot when we were done.
