I previously deleted my old review because I was hoping our management team would reconsider switching EHR systems. Switching EHRs is a difficult, time-consuming process, so I wanted to give Valant the benefit of the doubt and see if things would improve. We have been using Valant since 2018, so this is not a review based on a short-term experience or a few isolated issues. Unfortunately, my experience has only become more frustrating. At this point, I honestly don’t feel that **one star adequately reflects our experience with Valant.** Dealing with Valant has been a nightmare. The amount of downtime we experience is unacceptable, especially when we need the system to function the most during month-end. Nearly every month-end, we experience downtime that directly impacts our ability to complete billing and close the month on time. Valant also pushes frequent updates that often create additional issues on our end. Instead of making our jobs easier or improving our workflow, these changes frequently result in new problems that our staff has to troubleshoot and find workarounds for. I have had to create an entirely separate workflow just to compensate for Valant’s reliability issues. Our staff has even worked weekends to stay ahead of billing and minimize the impact of downtime. Unfortunately, even working weekends does not solve the problem when the system goes down and the issues continue into our normal business days. Our organization provides mental health services, yet the EHR we rely on creates a significant amount of stress and frustration for the staff and providers who have to use it every day. Personally, there are days when I dread coming to work because I know I will have to spend another day dealing with Valant issues instead of focusing on my actual responsibilities. I have taken the time to demo several other EHR systems, and there are clearly better options available. Other systems provide the same functionality and in many cases, significantly more without the constant downtime and disruptions we have experienced with Valant. If I could go back in time, I honestly wish we had never chosen Valant in the first place. An EHR should support your organization, improve efficiency, and allow your staff to focus on their work. It should not require an organization to create additional workflows, work weekends, and constantly troubleshoot problems just to keep basic operations running. After our experience with Valant, I would strongly encourage any organization considering this EHR to thoroughly research other options before making the commitment. Switching EHRs may be difficult, but being stuck with a system that consistently disrupts your operations can be even more costly.

We have been using Valant EHR for almost a year. They did not detail that they charge for all reminders sent with the sales. Their customer response manager never returns their calls. The EHR has so many nuances to making sure a claim gets created and errors occur. Their AI scribe is not at the same level. Treatment planner - do not waste your time. The patient portal is horrible. Task manager - cannot task a group. Also you ancillary staff cannot write a note. This is an outdated EHR that has multiple fixes to upgrade. If you love to click multiple times to get to the info you need you will love this EHR otherwise do not waste your time.

We are a multi-state practice that utilizes Valant since 2021. It has been an exceptional resource to our practice. We are able to manage all of our practice needs (billing, insurance eligibility, telehealth, in-person, revenue cycle management, document, and so much more in one system). Of course there are some glitches from time to time, but I can honestly say they make an effort to improve the system regularly and are responsive to feedback. Highly recommend this EHR.

I wish I could give this company zero stars. The product and support we were promised during the sales process are completely different from the reality after signing. It honestly feels like they rely on the fact that once a practice switches EHR systems, it’s extremely difficult to switch again, so they know customers are essentially stuck. The lack of customer support is shocking. There is no phone number to call for technical support and no direct access to an account manager. For a service that is critical to running a medical practice and often involves time-sensitive issues, that level of support is unacceptable, especially given the cost. The training is also very disappointing. The initial trainings are poor and processes/workflows/purpose of items are not fully explained, and if you need additional training, they charge several hundred dollars per hour. Most of the training videos available online are around five years old and do not reflect what the system currently looks like, which makes them difficult to follow and not very helpful. There are also many features in the system that feel only partially developed. Some things seem like they were thought through initially but not fully designed around how a real practice actually uses an EHR. For example, you cannot see what is visible in a patient’s portal from the provider side, certain items cannot be edited, if you run an invoice twice it appears twice in the patients portal rather than the system recognizing a duplicate and there are no notifications when a patient signs up for the portal or completes required documents. These seem like basic, practical features that would make a big difference in daily workflow. Overall, we are extremely disappointed. We now feel stuck in a system that does not fully support our practice or our needs. It is also frustrating that many basic services, including additional training, come with significant additional costs.

Valant is an excellent EHR system that has made my billing smooth and stress free. I love the way I can create individualized template notes. Also, the customer assistance is excellent.
