Our experience with Dr. Yanez at Siskin Children’s Institute was deeply disappointing and deeply unprofessional. We brought our daughter in for a comprehensive ADHD and autism evaluation, expecting a thorough, objective assessment. Instead, Dr. Yanez barely acknowledged our daughter speaking to her only once upon entering to say she wasn't in trouble—and did not interact with, test, or engage her in a single task for the remainder of the appointment. Throughout the visit, our parental concerns were consistently dismissed. When describing our daughter's daily symptoms, Dr. Yanez minimized them, claiming her behavior was typical and that our expectations were simply too high. When we explained her severe, constant hyperactivity, Dr. Yanez sarcastically remarked, "Except for now?"—completely ignoring how hyperfocus presents when a child is handed a brand-new set of coloring items. The clinical approach was alarming: ADHD Diagnosis: Issued entirely based on parental report without administering any direct observational tasks, interactive testing, or structured play evaluations with our daughter. Autism Screening: Shut down immediately with the statement, "If your child will interact with me, she’s not autistic." Dismissing an autism evaluation based on an outdated, inaccurate stereotype—without conducting standard observational tools—is unacceptable for a developmental specialist. Because her symptoms were brushed aside rather than properly evaluated, our daughter's pediatrician is sending us elsewhere for a complete re-evaluation. We will not be returning to Siskin, and we strongly caution other parents seeking a thorough and respectful evaluation to look elsewhere.

My child is still in the evaluation stage at Siskin Children's Institute. So far I have had a great experience. I did not feel rushed. I felt seen and heard. The staff adapted well with my child's behavior while staying calm and patient when she escalated. They made her feel like she was a part of the assessments as well and not just there being talked about. I watched her go from being nervous and shy to being energetic, comfortable and talkative with the staff. She especially loved the butterfly path that we have to follow to get to certain places. I definitely look forward to teaming up with Siskin Children's Institute to help my child show her full potential (that we already know is inside of her!)

I ADORE how AMAZINGLY LOVING the place feels walking into the establishment. My son has speech therapy every Wednesday and his therapist is WONDERFUL...The amount of patience, love, and excitement she has for my son when he achieves progress every session is pure JOY... I appreciate everyone that works there rather I've encountered them or not!
