§01 · Overview

About OnCall Health.

OnCall Health provides telehealth platforms designed for remote ABA therapy delivery. Based in Toronto, ON, the solution offers secure video conferencing, session documentation, and parent engagement tools.

§02 · Approach

How OnCall Health works.

OnCall Health is a telehealth platform that enables healthcare organizations to launch configurable virtual care services for patients. Founded in 2016, the company provides secure video and messaging consultations, digital intake forms, patient file sharing, and integrated analytics dashboards designed to streamline remote healthcare delivery.

The platform serves mental health, primary care, and behavioral health organizations across North America. As of 2020, OnCall had worked with over 600 healthcare organizations and more than 7,000 providers. The company is PIPEDA-compliant and includes features such as real-time virtual care analytics, automated patient triage, self-scheduling, payment processing, insurance billing integration, and online prescription capabilities.

OnCall Health was founded in Toronto, Ontario, Canada by Nicholas Chepesiuk (CEO) and Kihoon Terry Kwon (CTO). The company raised approximately $10.5 million CAD in funding across multiple rounds, including a $2 million seed round in 2019 and $7.9 million in Series A financing in 2020. In November 2022, OnCall Health was acquired by Qualifacts and now operates as OnCall by Qualifacts, a subsidiary of the larger healthcare technology company.

I can't even log into my account and when I change my password I STILL can't log into my account. Your "support".requires a ticket that you have too log in for, so if logging in, is the problem, then you can't get support. You guys should be ashamed of yourselves!

Began using OnCall Health in 2020 for my private practice with no issues. At that time, and a few years after that, they were easy to reach and pleasant to deal with. Technical and payment issues were readily resolved. However, since their absorption by Qualifacts, the service has been abysmal, particularly with respect to support (or "customer success" as Qualifacts puts it, haha). I've given them my two months' notice to cancel, but given what others have shared, I won't be surprised if they continue to bill me.

Not PIPEDA compliant if you cannot correct errors. I have wasted much time with a provider who used this software and couldn’t remove my child’s name from my email OnCall Health account. At the time we had his appointment, he was a minor and did not have his own email address, so we used mine. Now he can have his own account using his current email but his name is permanently attached to my email. Before I had my appointment, all the paperwork that asks for my signature has his name, not mine. The provider was told that this is the expected behaviour of the software. Email first instead of patient name? Not able to change an email address? Software sucks and makes me concerned about privacy issues.

We had been customers of OnCall Health for 3 years. For the first couple of years all was good, but over the past several months we started to have major technical issues that were impacting client appointments. We decided to cancel our account, yet were still charged for the following month, despite confirmation of cancelling in time before the next monthly charge. We have since sent several emails (they no longer have phone support) to our account manager and support teams and haven not heard back from anyone in over a week. They were very responsive when we wanted to add a license, but the experience of customer support/ canceling an account has been one of the worst we've ever had, it's been especially disappointing given how long we were customers of theirs.

Initially I was impressed with the sales person and the person who helped me to get set up with the platform. Then I started using the service and everything started to go downhill. The Telemedicine video would sometimes not work and then I would have to FaceTime my patients. Next, there were times when I couldn't even accept a patient request for an appointment. The worst part was trying to get support if you have problems. When I signed up, I was told that I could have support by phone whenever I needed. Well, I can tell you that I have never been able to reach an actual human to speak to. Now, the company has announced that any support will be only be provided virtually. That virtual support usually means that you may get an e-mail back in a couple of days giving you a list of things that you may have done wrong and that is why you had the problem in the first place. How will that help me and my patients if we have issues and need immediate help? The bottom line is that the company is all about sales and getting as many accounts as possible and then after that you will pretty much be on your own to solve all the glitches in their system. Think twice or more before you consider using this service.
