worst assistance help from LACERA today. I've been on hold two different times and for over an hour each time. Each time I call I am directed to complete forms they email me, I do that and then call back to give the tracking number so as to expediate my request and them I'm told it's the wrong form!. the last time I called the lady on the phone didn't want to help me with the latest tracking number and said she would send me again the correct form and after 30 minutes I have still not received the form. I tried call Administration and good luck trying to find the correct number, it must be a goverment secret. I am still unable to get help. but am put on hold again. so frustrated!

Today I contacted LACERA Member Services with specific questions regarding a change I needed to make. I spoke with Lisa who provided outstanding assistance which helped me to successfully complete my transaction. At the end, I couldn't thank her enough for walking me through the process and her patience with my many questions throughout. Lisa took the time to provide step by step instructions. Thank you Lisa! You made this so easy for me. While I wanted to write this review regarding Lisa's assistance today, I also want to thank LACERA for the outstanding services they have provided to me, my former HR staff, and former employees throughout the 40+ years I served with Los Angeles County. In my experience as an employee, manager and now retiree, I cannot say enough about the extremely positive experiences I have had with LACERA staff over the years. As someone with both and insider's view & insider's experience, and as a customer (Retiree), I can say that LACERA is the finest, most transparent organization I have ever had the pleasure to deal with. They truly care about Los Angeles County active and retired members as demonstrated by the consistently personal and professional assistance they provide, all delivered with the highest of integrity. Sadly my brother and I are forced to deal with LACERA after the passing of my father. All the reviews are accurate. Rude customer service, poor people skills, contradictory information given out and a defensive attitude is all I've received so far. They come off as extremely dishonest and secretive. My father is gone and I've asked for, what should be, a simple audit of his retirement funds and we are denied. We requested the audit because they refuse to provide even the beneficiary with any information about the account. Including what is left in the retirement. They actually expect you to just take their word and go away. After speaking with a very unpleasant customer service rep on the phone today, I was told good luck (very condescendingly) and to write a letter. They cite policy or worse client privacy even when the member has passed and privacy is no longer a factor. In one of the most stressful times a person can have, losing a parent, they have made it even harder. A simple request can't even be fulfilled and I have the feeling I'm dealing with grifters. Ill update this if things change (better or worse). I sincerely hope I can update this post with a positive ending. Time will tell.

I have been retired (disability) safety member since 2004. My ex-wife was and is not a LACERA member. HOWEVER, LACERA treats her with the "Red Carpet" hello and I legally end up having to provide for her over 60% of my retirement! LACERA Never...I mean NEVER helped me gain some insight and to understand how divorce impacts a person. I scheduled three separate 1:1 meetings on Saturdays to learn and get info. TOTAL WASTE OF TIME. NOW I have a Court Order signed by a Judge ordering them to pay me Retroactive Retirement PARTIAL Payments for 8 months! They will NOT DO THAT! So I am broke, sold just about everything to survive. And Now I have to hire an Attorney? For MY MONEY! LACERA is not doing me any favors...OK? And they did NOT prepare me adequately by informing me of the possible outcomes on my retirement. My Ex-Wife's Attorney sure as hell Knew!
