My son had been enrolled in the TISS program for 29 months and was paired with a male therapist. Coordination was easier during the school year than it was during the summer, but we made it work. After an outside diagnosis, paired with therapy, my son feels better and more confident than he did. Grateful he’s still here.
Over all the experience was good. The staff was great and helpful. Gave great tips on how to help herself and to speak up. The only thing I had an issue with was with the psychiatrist. Time and time again he kept wanting to push medication on my daughter after I said no i dont want her to be dependent on medication or run the risk of it doing more harm than good. I wanted to do more research. Even when she was realest they still prescribed her medication after I said no.
A family member recently utilized the services of WBI and I cannot express how great our experience was. Not only was she cared for with so much compassion, but I was invited for a family session with my loved one within just a few days. It was such a beneficial experience for us both and I am so happy with the path that WBI paved for my family member. The staff was caring, considerate and made her feel so valued.
Some of the staff was really nice and I appreciate that and they did help me detox because that's what I went there for, but I do have some complaints. It was really hard to sleep because the door to the rec room or activity room door slams really loud and the door kept slamming. Plus the loud speaker that I kept hearing didn't help. It was just noisy and loud and when you're trying to detox all you want to do is sleep it off and I couldn't. Plus I did voluntary decided to go and the doctor that I face timed with told me he could hold me against my will and I'm not minor, I am an adult and I don't think that's right. I was fine when I got home and I ended up being okay. They did let me go thankgoodness! But yes I ended up being fine when I got home and I'm still doing okay. I haven't drank since I left and I'm sober and still have my job which I'm happy about.
This place needs shut down. 1-The communication between staff is basically non existent, which makes it extremely difficult to get answers especially as a first time goer who has no idea how the process works. 2- This is supposed to be a place for bettering mental health, and healing right? Yet the children are freely cussing and fighting with eachother, there’s little therapy time, mostly just sitting around with other children watching movies. 3- Dr Danzick spent 30 seconds with my 12 year old daughter and tried to diagnose her with BPD and add more medication to her list (then got mad at me when I tried telling him it’s normal for girls her age to have mood swings because according to him and his X chromosome it’s not normal) even though she wasn’t in WBI for her mood or behavior. 4- Dr Prypchan ignored my request for my daughter to be on the lowest dose of the suggested medication for her anxiety and put her on a dose too high for her age and first time on a medication of its kind. 5- The place itself is digusting. There is spilled something running down most of the walls, the floors look like they haven’t been swept maybe ever. 6- I was told to provide my child with a brand new toothbrush still in its package when she arrived. 3 days later she tells me it was taken from her because it was “too big” and one wasn’t provided as a replacement. 7- you’re not required to show an ID when coming to visit or discharge a child, they just trust you are who you say you are I guess. That seems safe right? Please if you have the choice- do not send your children here. Protect your children.
