Periscope Data was an analytics platform for SQL-first data teams. Sisense acquired it in 2019 and folded the product into its own platform; it no longer exists standalone.
How Periscope Data works.
Periscope Data was a cloud-based business intelligence and analytics platform founded in 2012 by Tom O'Neill and Harry Glaser. The platform provided companies with tools to ingest, store, analyze, visualize, and report on data from a single connected interface, serving data professionals and technical teams working with SQL, Python, and R.
The company was headquartered in San Francisco, California at 1125 Mission Street and grew to approximately 150 employees. Its client base included major technology companies such as Adobe, Crunchbase, Tinder, and ZipRecruiter, reflecting its appeal to data-driven organizations across multiple industries.
In May 2019, Periscope Data was acquired by Sisense for over $100 million. Following the acquisition, the platform was rebranded as Sisense for Cloud Data Teams. The company no longer operates independently under the Periscope Data name, and current information and support are available through Sisense's corporate channels.
