About Chartio.
Chartio was a cloud business-intelligence platform for exploring data and building dashboards without deep SQL. Atlassian acquired the company in 2021 and retired the product in 2022; it is no longer available.
How Chartio works.
Chartio was a cloud-based data exploration and business intelligence platform that enabled users to connect data sources and create interactive dashboards without requiring SQL knowledge. Founded in June 2010 by Dave Fowler and Daniel Levine, the company provided a general-purpose analytics solution serving enterprises across multiple industries.
Based in San Francisco, California, Chartio operated as an independent software company until its acquisition by Atlassian in February 2021. At the time of acquisition, the company employed between 40-50 people and had established a significant user base, with 3,402 followers on its LinkedIn profile.
In March 2022, Chartio was discontinued as a standalone service following the Atlassian acquisition. The company's technology was integrated into Atlassian's broader ecosystem, and the original Chartio platform is no longer available for new customers. Users were transitioned to alternative Atlassian solutions for their business intelligence and analytics needs.
Chartio's legacy includes its focus on democratizing data analytics by removing technical barriers to dashboard creation. The platform was designed to serve businesses of all sizes seeking accessible data visualization and exploration tools without requiring deep technical expertise.

Great for analytics set ups where flexible data layers are required without the heavy admin overhead. Suitable for a mix of user skill levels and good support too.

Update 2018 Now it is the time to update the review. Afterwards I have got response from Chartio Team and the service person was very nice and patient and have helped me really a lot about my questions. We were very satisfied and grateful for the service Chartio had given. And at the beginning of the year 2018 we have switched to a one year supscription. Great product and great service! Now five star to Chartio. 👍 Best Wishes to Chartio Kai =====Post below were written 8 Month before====== One Star to the after sale service. Our team choose to use chartio for spare time on data analysis. Unexpected we have to spend some of saved time for trying to contact with a single person of chartio for an invoice that would be accepted by our local tax bureau. Havent seen any invoice been just addressed to an email address which makes me think would the tax bureau in the US accept this kind of kiding invoice? We have written Emails and received one response for our first email but without following response to our following emails. I have also personally written email to chartio on 28 May without any response until now (08 June). Also I have made several phone calls and as always: 1. Welcome to Chartio -->2. Press 1 or 2 ---> 3. No one available, please leave a message, no matter you press 1 or 2, the same answer. Hey Chartio, I would really not like to suggest my collegues for quitting our abo, but please also take some care on themes we as users care about. And thank you chartio for giving me the last one thought for my ever first time try to reach the customer service of a company via google maps recension, what an experience. Yep and thank you that you have a google maps site, at least, luckily. Yours sincerely Kai Germany
