I have the SW Colorado Elevate Option. I wish I could give negative stars. Denied a preventative office visit and routine preventative test clearly covered in full by my plan (and federal law). Called once and Elevate acknowledged it was covered in full and would reprocess. When I called to follow up, they told me no- claims denied it. Its so hard, these nice sweet people taking calls when it's jus the terrible system of insurance trying never to pay a claim ever. Bad insurance.
I’ve had a really good experience, as a new member of Denver Health Medical Plan. I needed an MRI recently and the out-of-pocket cost was very affordable. I also really like using MyChart. It’s easy to review my test results and the messages from staff regarding scheduling were really helpful and made the process smooth. Overall, the coverage and convenience have been great.
I have been a member of Denver Health Medical plan for almost 12 years and have consistently been impressed with the coverage/plan offerings (at low, reasonable cost) and quality of care (best medicine practices). Over the course of 12 years, I've only had a couple of billing issues and was able to resolve them quickly by working with member services. I would recommend DHMP to anyone looking for a local, community-based health plan that is rooted in commitment to quality and service.
I will be finding new insurance on the Colorado option since Denver Health medical plan and Denver Health medical care continue to make healthcare more expensive and take advantage of their patients to help with their budget problems. I would rather pay a higher premium than have insurance that only covers preventative care. Have health issues and need to see a specialist or have any type of test? It won't be covered until you reach your very high deductible. It's sad voters, including myself, voted to give them more funding and they still choose to abuse the use of facility fees to charge patients twice for the same service, so not only is Denver Health insurance not covering the cost of your care, but you now have to pay double because you went to Denver Health providers! They should find another way to fix their budget problems without financially abusing their patients.
Had health insurance for the year of 2023 and cancelled after that due to moving to a job that provided me health insurance from a different provider. Fast forward to the end of 2024, I found that I had been signed up again for an Elevate plan for 2025 without my knowledge and was given a bill in the mail for almost $300. Confirmed that it wasn't a scam from a fake company posing as Denver Health by seeing if the new account number existed on the "pay my premium" page, and the account absolutely exists.
