Website is terrible!! Never had to go through so much hassle just to be able schedule an exam to receive a certification!! Definitely need to change the process!! Process almost makes you reconsider the job!!
Just as everyone else, I've had nothing but issues from the BACB. I sent in my recertification and it was denied because of (well conflicting information- 1 saying I only sent 1 doc, another saying I only sent 3 of 5 pages). Pages 1 and 2 do not apply to anything and are just information but are required to be sent in for some reason though their website has no file capacity and won't upload them all. I compressed them and put them in a zip file since it wouldn't upload any other way and was denied, however, on the website it didn't reflect this. My clinical manager reached out to them several times with no reply. So I fell out of compliance and they are now telling me that I need to retake my 40 hours, sit for another RBT exam, resubmit and repay for my documents. I tried to fill out at attestation form but it requires documentation as proof, and surprise, it won't allow me to upload any documents. I changed the format- it didn't work. I paid to reduce a PDF to under 2 MB (the stated limit) and it didn't work. No one is replying to my emails or communication and I am out of work. I called the number and it doesn't lead anywhere. Can't even start from the bottom and become an RBT AGAIN after being one for 5 years if I still can't upload any documents and I'm sure not going to continually pay them for documents I can't send and they claim they haven't received. Terrible customer service, they truly don't care about our client's our our livelihood and unfortunately it is the governing body. I planned to become a BCBA within the next year but won't be able to if I can't even get my RBT reinstated.
I think it's time to go into another field. Very abusive field towards therapist and children. I've received ongoing supervision and submitted my RBT renewal and they are deliberately keeping my account inactive until it expires and I have to take the exam again. It's really not worth it. I've had my certificate for 5 years and never had this issue. Considering the extreme turn over , lack of support and job security it definitely is not worth it. They make it very difficult for you to speak to someone regarding these issues. There is a huge disconnect and lack of support professionally . We commit to a field, clients and families only to be abused mentally, emotionally and financially. I do not think I'll be going through the whole process to become certified over again just to continue dealing with this, unethical ABA companies . It goes much higher with how we are treated very poorly.
Submitted my recertification 50 million times, paid the fee, and because someone is blind or can't read my recertification information was declined multiple times even after submitting endless appeals with documented proof that ALL requirements had been met. Then they had they audacity to deny my appeals even with proof and stated that I can no longer file any appeals under the license number that I had. I was told I had to take the 40 hour training, competency, and RBT assessment AGAIN. Poor customer service, poor lack of urgency, and no one picks up the phone. If I could give a 0 star rating...my livelihood was impacted but this didn't seem to matter to them.
Scam. I have been trying to contact these people. Trump is on it i see. Many jobs being lost. Bcbas in the school districts doing absolutely nothing and having teachers doing fbas, bips, etc. When has BCBAs become teacher trainers. They don't work with the kids or anything. Please dont get a master's in this. Anytime you can't contact the board. Is a red flag.
