About SurveyMonkey.
SurveyMonkey is a general-purpose online survey platform headquartered in San Mateo, CA. It is not an ABA-specific data-collection system.
How SurveyMonkey works.
SurveyMonkey is a cloud-based survey and forms platform founded in 1999 that helps organizations collect, analyze, and act on feedback at scale. The company provides customizable survey tools, forms, and data analysis features accessible through a web-based interface.
The platform serves a diverse customer base across business, education, healthcare, government, and non-profit sectors. Organizations use SurveyMonkey to gather customer feedback, conduct market research, measure employee satisfaction, perform academic surveys, and collect health-related data. The software supports multiple question types, branching logic, and integration with third-party applications.
Headquartered in San Mateo, California, SurveyMonkey operates globally and employs approximately 1,300–1,400 staff members. The company transitioned to private status in June 2023 after a brief period as a public company under the name Momentive Global Inc. Current CEO Eric Johnson joined the company in 2022 and was appointed to the top role in 2023.
While SurveyMonkey's general-purpose data collection capabilities can support various outcome tracking workflows, the platform is not purpose-built for specialized use cases and lacks domain-specific features tailored to particular industries or professional practices. Users typically leverage its flexibility to adapt the tool to their specific data collection and reporting needs.

This is a classic Free Trial for 7 days to then trap you into a contract that bills you $300. I let them know at the end of the 7 days that I would not be using the application but they billed it anyways. When I tried to get it removed in the second week, they said, too bad. That's our policy. You are stuck and there is no way to refund any of it even though I used for only one week. Horrible business practice.

I’ve had a frustrating experience with SurveyMonkey that I feel others should be aware of. The company has a very poor reputation, as evidenced by the numerous complaints available on both the BBB and Trustpilot websites. If you take a look at their BBB page (link) and their Trustpilot page (link), you'll see a pattern of complaints about SurveyMonkey's deceptive business practices. One major issue I encountered was their policy of setting payments to "default" auto-renew without clearly disclosing this in their terms and conditions (TOR). This hidden policy led to unexpected charges, and when I tried to get a refund, they refused. This feels like a blatant violation of auto-renewal laws, particularly in California, where such practices are prohibited.

Very frustrated with my experience with this company. After one use of their product, I was charged 200.00 for an annual subscription I didn’t want. I spent hours trying to get it reversed. They claimed there was no way to reverse the charge. Then, when I did not input a card fast enough to receive a partial refund, I was denied entirely. Too much automation and overly expensive. Designed for large corporations not small businesses. Very unhappy customer.

They make people feel comfortable and they have quotes that invite the workers to go for the better. They also try to make it fun by having things such as stuffed animals, etc.
