Care Plus NJ, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and local Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) established in 1978. The organization provides integrated, recovery-focused behavioral health and substance use services across northern New Jersey, with its primary headquarters in Bergen County. Care Plus NJ operates a comprehensive continuum of services including children and family services, evidence-based outpatient mental health treatment, psychiatric evaluations and medication management, and addiction recovery programs. The organization delivers over 80 distinct program options annually, addressing diverse clinical needs including psychotherapy, relationship therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), ADHD counseling, grief support, group therapy, and intensive outpatient programs. The organization serves multiple age groups and populations across northern New Jersey through numerous clinical locations. Service delivery includes traditional outpatient clinic-based care, school-based intervention programs, and mobile crisis response services. Care Plus NJ employs a professional staff of approximately 450-550 clinicians and support personnel dedicated to recovery-focused treatment.

Front desk in Paramus is terrible. HORRIBLE, the admin told me to check psychologytoday.com to find an accommodating facility. Meanwhile their site states that they do not turn anyone needing care away. Don’t waste your time with an intake here, you’ll never get the appropriate help, it’s unfortunate because years ago they were great. However, administrators are beyond unprofessional.
Naming this place Care Plus is so wrong, it should change to Care Less! The staff is untrained and clueless as to help patients. The “so called therapists and psychiatrists” are trained to deal with pets not people and would make great veterinarians some day if they could ever get a degree! Run don’t walk and find help somewhere where people care about you as a person. It is sad that our mental health facilities have failed us all and this is a prime example! Sad to see and say!
This experience has been the most distressing I have encountered. The psychiatric nurse practitioner assigned to me exhibited extreme aggression and confrontational behavior, displaying an agitated demeanor that was unlike anything I have encountered in my mental health journey. After spending a full day following a list provided by my insurance company, I decided to seek private care to address my needs in a more tranquil and soothing environment. I am seeking a professional who can provide me with answers in a calm and caring manner, rather than someone who confronts and attacks me. This establishment should be avoided, as it has a history of treating patients poorly.
I am a patient at an Assisted Living Facility who filed 28+ complaints and violations against the Director. In retribution he contacted Care Plus and screener M.G. came out and declared me an emergency mental health crisis after 5 minutes and had me forcibly removed by police and taken to Bergen New Bridge Medical Center. He not only believed the pack of lies from the Director but included them in his evaluation instead of following protocol and obtaining signed statements from staff members attesting to the fact that the incidents actually happened. I wasted a whole day at the hospital, interviewed by 3 different doctors, and I cleared all medical and psychiatric evaluations. I was given my discharge papers, released, and taken back to the facility, where the Director had locked all of the doors and refused to readmit me. His sole purpose was to get me out of the facility as a "nuisance Medicaid patient" and he committed the criminal act of "Patient Dumping." We had no choice but to drive all the way back to the hospital where law enforcement and doctors got involved and I was sent back to the facility again. The matter is now being investigated by the N.J. Attorney General's Office and the OSC Office of the State Comptroller. Both the Director and the jerk from Care Plus who was his accomplice should be in prison. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!
I use the service to have them check on my sister. They did the screaming and provided all of the information I needed to help me make a decision. They are very patient when dialing with clients in crisis.
