Burrell Behavioral Health is a nonprofit organization founded in 1977 that operates the Burrell Autism Center, providing specialized services for individuals with autism spectrum disorder. Headquartered in Springfield, Missouri, the organization has grown to serve clients across 34 locations throughout the state with a team of over 1,200 employees. The Autism Center offers a comprehensive range of services including Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy, diagnostic evaluations, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, and mental health counseling. Services are delivered to children beginning as young as age one through the transition to adulthood at age twenty-two, with clinical staff working across multiple settings including clients' homes, community environments, schools, and Burrell facilities. Family support is a core component of the Autism Center's approach. A Family Resource Specialist works with families following an autism diagnosis, and the center periodically offers parent training opportunities specifically focused on parenting children with autism. Additional family supports include assistance with accessing needed services, IEP preparation and school consultation, and phone support through Family Support Specialists. Burrell Behavioral Health operates as a nonprofit committed to providing accessible behavioral health and autism services to southwest Missouri communities. The organization employs Board Certified Behavior Analysts and Registered Behavior Technicians trained to deliver evidence-based ABA therapy across diverse service settings.

My long-time therapist is amazing. Was amazing. I'm done with Burrell. In Jan. 2025 I needed my medical records by April. 15. Burrell out sources both Medical Records and Accounting, (both of those companies have a third party themselves)! Not only did I miss the deadline and lose benefits from my insurance company as a result, but I never did get those records,so BEWARE if you want access to your records. The billing dept's 3rd party sends a monthly statement and a balance remains there even though I've made payments AND pay when I check-in for my apts... It doesn't affect the balance on my statements. The dispute over this has continued for months and I'm tired of ALL THAT IT TAKES to speak to 3rd parties and hear how they can do nothing about it since THEIR 3rd parties are where the buck stops. I would give 5 stars to my therapist and the staff at Bldg B. No stars for processes, so I give the company 1 star.
How Sarah Madeline is still licensed and seeing clients is beyond me. I reported her for a HIPPA violation. If she is your counselor be very careful with what you say, she will make fun of you with other CLIENTS and share your personal information with them! I caught her doing this. Burrell was notified immediately but Sarah Madeline is STILL seeing clients!
Honestly most of the staff is extremely negative. Not many are helpful and they take forever to help solve issues. The main ones that are positive is the scheduling people. I have been a client at this place for far too long & i’m disappointed in the service that has been provided to me over the years. I don’t call because i want to be a nuisance but thats what Im made to feel like. Thats a shame! Currently i am struggling with the fact that my doctor didn’t write the appropriate date on my controlled medicine, and so i gave the nurse a call, left voicemail, and when i received a call back the only thing i got was “your medicine is denied.” With the most disrespectful tone of voice. Okay i call back and ask why it was denied…. Well because my dr wrote wrong date, well on top of this hes not in office this week and i now have to suffer until he returns. I apologize to pharmacy because i did not realize that my dr failed to write proper date, but also had someone explained that better in the beginning i wouldn’t have this problem.
My daughter has been through unthinkable things. We SPECIFICALLY asked for a female counselor. They scheduled her with Irene. Irene is a man. My daughter sat through the appointment not knowing what to do. I called after the appointment and I was very polite about it until I was told that a form would have to be filled out and Irene would have to review it with his supervisor before any changes could be made. I asked to speak with a supervisor and Katy who answered the phone initially was very rude said her supervisor was "unfortunately not available" and that I could leave a voicemail with the care experience team. I did. That was a week ago. So here I am warning whoever can see this to avoid this place like the plague.
They have changed so much over the years. And not for the good. It takes a month to get any sort of records from them. You used to be able to walk in and get them. Now you have to fill out a form online through verisma then sign a hippa form through your actual provider. And then wait over a month to get anything back or hear anything back. They’re my records. I should be able to get them whenever I need them.
