My child has been attending The May Institute in Randolph for 6+ years. The school has been a blessing for both my son and our family. It's a wonderful school; the staff really care and give the students tools to survive in this world, along with love and support.
I was a student at the May for nine years and I would like to state the pros and cons of the may center. Pros, the May Center taught me very good social skills communication skills and job skills. They also taught me how to be polite and friendly with other people except that was generally all what they taught me. Cons, I was poorly educated thanks to the teachers there I wasn’t taught basic and standard Math, Science, English, Chemistry, even basic reading and writing which is what a regular student would learn. There would be lots of disruption and loud noises in the school which made the place feel more like a prison. There would be kids with autism and down syndrome fighting in the classrooms on a day-to-day basis which still gives me nightmares to this day one disturbing story is when I was playing on the playground when I saw a teacher being rushed to the hospital being lifted on to a ambulance with serious skull injuries but I was used to seeing that type of violence on a regular basis. I look back in horror of how I was so used to seeing fighting and violence. I was pretty much treated like a prisoner every single day. Thankfully by the grace of God, When I went back to public school I was able to learn how to be literate and learn about History and Math and English and other school academic subjects. TO ALL Parents reading this don’t send your autistic children or teens there unless you want them have life-long disturbing memories and to be uneducated and illiterate because that will definitely happen. Thank you for reading my post Sincerely Ethan C. Miguel
